Bob Bell Fishing Derby: Bob Bell was an avid fisherman who loved nothing more than to spend early mornings and late evenings fishing on Kapikog Lake. His family has organized the Bob Bell Fishing Derby over the past few years to honour his memory. This year his grandchildren will even be entered in the Contest!
The event this year is on Saturday August 7th from 8:00am to 9:00pm open to lake residents and there families. There are three categories: largest bass, largest pike and most coarse fish caught (for children under 12 years of age). Simply keep track of the number of fish caught during the designated time—what could be easier!!! Fish caught should be taken to Holly and Rob Christie of 24 Munro Dr about a 3rd of the way along the north shore of Kapikog Lake when heading in a westerly direction for weigh in. The dock will be marked with balloons so it should be easy to find. We hope that all fishermen will practice “catch and release” where possible. Prizes will be awarded at the Annual General Meeting later in August. These are generally donated by cottagers for this event so, if you would like to donate in the kids or open (big kids) categories, Contact Gerry Haarmayer at 705-375-5618 or at email address gjs.outdoors@sympatico.ca for registration, donations and inquiries.
